MaComère is the recipient of the 2010 Horizon Award. The Award is administered by the Council of Editors of Learned Journals, an Allied Organization of the Modern Language Association, and is given every other year in recognition of scholarly achievement in a journal covering material outside of Europe or the US. Professor Simpson accepted the Award on January 8, 2011 at a ceremony held during the Modern Language Association convention in Los Angeles.
